October 7 photo assignment: Haven of Peace Academy (HOPAC) playground

Today I thought I'd post some pictures of a place where the kids and I spend quite a bit of time after school:  the HOPAC playground.  All 3 kids are now participating in an after-school activity. Charlotte has swim team Monday and Friday.  Emily has football Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.  And Josh (with Tim as coach) has football Tuesday, Thursday, Friday.  Which means we are now there every single day from 2:20-4:00, or a bit later, depending on when games are scheduled.

Thankfully, the weather has been very pleasant so far.  And who can argue with a view like this? That's the Indian Ocean in the background.

The playground itself is very nice.  It was actually shipped from the United States!

I've seen upwards of 20 kids get on the merry-go-round at once - especially when Mr. Ly is pushing!  I love seeing all the kids in their uniforms.

There is a little snack stand (in the back and to the left of this amazing tree) which sells things like cinnamon rolls, frozen juice and donuts.  The kids each got 10,000 shillings to spend on snacks in the month of September (about $7) and they seriously over-spent (which is kind of hard to do when things are about 500 shillings each).  I didn't realize the snack stand extended credit!  So we are scaling things back this month.

I've enjoyed getting to know some of the other moms and kids every day!
