October 12 photo assignment: Josh

The words I would use to describe Josh in Africa is "bottomless pit."  Since we moved, I am having trouble keeping up with his appetite!  Since snacks are not common here, I've had to get creative.  He especially loves my homemade granola bars.

Josh hasn't been a big fan of the Tanzanian-style burgers and ketchup.  Here he is enjoying an American-style steak sandwich at the Slipway.  By the way, lettuce is very rare here...a treat!

His class is focusing on Egyptian history and held an "archaeological dig" at the school.  He reports that math is really easy and Swahili is fun.

Because Josh's teacher is from Wales, he's picking up some funny British vocabulary such as "rubbish" (trash) and "sweeties" (candy).  The other day he said he would do something "straight away."  Jo, you would be proud!

Here's a picture of his class doing "assembly" a few weeks ago.  The theme was the names of God.

He is also enjoying football, playing on the U-11 team.  Here he is with friend and teammate Jonas, who is from Denmark.
