We've been going to Vineyard Dar es Salaam every Sunday since arriving. It was our original plan to check out a bunch of churches and then make a decision, but we are all very happy there, so why mess with a good thing? We love the people, they have a great program for the kids during the service, we enjoy the praise music, and the teaching is Biblically based and enriching. I also love the service Sunday they hold once a month.
The church meets in the back room of a local coffeehouse, Wamama Kahawa (mothers coffee). It has a thatched roof with open-air sides (the lighting makes it very difficult to photograph!)
Josh and his friend Caleb are walking into church.
We sit on green plastic chairs and are cooled by overhead ceiling fans. The power has gone off during worship a couple of times, but there is a generator!
The girls in the church hold a dance party off to the side during praise time. They get pretty creative making up motions to the words of the songs!
Offering baskets!
